Every piece in the Royal Collection is cased in 316L marine-grade stainless steel the same alloy specification used in surgical instruments and Swiss sports watches costing multiples of the price. Above the movement sits diamond-hard sapphire crystal glass, registering 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, the threshold at which virtually nothing encountered in daily life can leave a mark. The case itself is finished using a process that takes considerably longer than standard polishing a frosted texture that diffuses light rather than reflecting it, giving each watch a depth that reveals itself slowly rather than announcing itself all at once.
